Biography
Randeep is a registered patent agent with over 15 years of experience in both governmental and law firm settings. He is passionate about procuring and securing intellectual property for clients in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device fields.
Prior to joining the firm, Randeep was a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the Biotechnology and Organic Chemistry Technology Center (TC 1600). As a Patent Examiner, Randeep worked closely with inventors, patent attorneys, and corporate in-house counsel in determining allowable subject matter in patent applications involving:
- cosmetics
- textiles
- pesticides
- immunology
- tissue engineering
- pharmaceutical formulations
- medical devices and implants
- microbiology
- biochemistry
- nanomaterials
Randeep also has experience working as a patent law clerk for a large international law firm where he conducted U.S. and foreign patent prosecution for clients in industrial and agricultural biotechnology. As a patent law clerk, Randeep managed extensive domestic and foreign intellectual property portfolios drawn to genetically modified microorganisms and plant seeds.
As a graduate student in bioengineering at Rice University, Randeep developed processes for optimizing the production of isoamyl acetate, a natural flavor product, in genetically engineered Escherichia coli using low-cost fermentation ingredients as the primary researcher in an NSF-funded project.
Randeep’s legal and government intellectual property gives him a unique insight into the intricacies of United States patent law and the patent procurement process. He is also well-versed in patent and literature searching for the purpose of evaluating the intellectual property landscape of innovative subject matter in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device fields.
